BetMGM and TAPPP have launched single-brand gaming gift cards at retailers in Ontario. The program enables customers to pay their accounts via a secure PIN redemption process.
It's also worth noting that gift cards sold by BetMGM have achieved a 99% redemption rate across the United States, demonstrating widespread consumer adoption since the program's launch in 2021. This makes BetMGM the first sportsbook operator to launch such a product in Canada.
BetMGM Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said, "Ontario has proved to be a robust market for sports betting and iGaming with BetMGM as one of the top-tier operators. We are proud to be the first to debut sportsbook-branded gift cards and offer players another convenient way to fund their accounts."
The BetMGM gift card program first launched in September 2021 through a deal with TAPPP. These cards are available across 15 US states where BetMGM operates legally.
BetMGM Ontario has brought plenty of excitement and big wins to players in the Ontario sports betting and Ontario online casino markets, with the online sportsbook paying out CAD 20 million in progressive jackpots within a week to Ontario players back in May.
Nguyen Le Wins Record-Breaking $777K in Historic BetMGM Poker Comeback
While BetMGM was keeping itself busy enhancing the accessibility of gift card offers and entrenching itself as one of the best sports betting sites in Canada, the company was also wrapping up one of its biggest-ever poker tournaments.
Nguyen Le secured one of the all-time great comeback wins to take a heads-up lead in the 2025 BetMGM Poker Championship that went down at ARIA Resort & Casino, Las Vegas. Le had just a single chip when 11 players were remaining, but put on a comeback via the final table to beat Ashish Ghosh heads-up and take $777,777 first prize.
The event recorded 1,853 entries for the $3,500 buy-in, setting a new record and resulting in a final prize pool of $5.9 million, roughly double the guarantee of $3 million. Le's victory doubled his career live winnings of $658,088, the victory becoming his all-time highest score to date.
This was the second big win for Le of the year. He took home $425,000 when he won a head-up deal earlier this year at BetMGM's Borgata Winter Poker Open.
Exponential growth has characterized the BetMGM Poker Championship since its debut in 2022. From 343 entries and a $1.1 million prize pool in its first year, the event has become a marquee event on the North American tour, with almost six times that number of registrations and more than five times that initial prize pool amount paid in 2025.
Over 110 players from different BetMGM regions, including the New Jersey online casino, Michigan online casino, Pennsylvania online casino, and Ontario real-money online casino markets, have qualified through online satellites.
