Scottish Open Picks & Odds 2025: Run it Back With Robby Mac at Renaissance Club

Scottie Scheffler (+450) is the betting favorite to win this week's Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, with an implied win probability of 18.18%.

Scottie Scheffler is the outright betting favorite by this week's Scottish Open odds, but I have my eyes set on defending tournament champion - and countryman - Robert MacIntyre as my best pick to win.

Scheffler holds +450 odds (via BetMGM), representing an implied win probability of 18.18% in the 156-man field in North Berwick. MacIntyre can be bet at +3000 Scottish Open odds via DraftKings. Rory McIlroy (+900 via BetMGM) is second on the tournament oddsboard ahead of next week's British Open. This week's event tees off Thursday morning and runs through Sunday's final round.

MacIntyre enters this week at No. 14 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). A two-time PGA Tour winner last season, he rose to a career-best 12th in the OWGR following his runner-up finish in the U.S. Open, before a T-17 finish in the Travelers Championship Signature Event.

The Scotsman returns home after taking the last two weeks off of competitive golf. He held the late clubhouse lead of the U.S. Open only to watch J.J. Spaun steal victory from the scorer's table.

Adding to MacIntyre's resume for this week - and this pick recommendation - is the runner-up finish at The Renaissance Club that preceded last year's win on home soil. In all, he has averaged 1.62 strokes gained on the field per round across 20 career rounds at this venue.

He has gained strokes in all key metrics across his last 20 measured rounds (including an average of 0.38 SG: approach per round), and he ranks 21st on Tour in proximity from 150-175 yards - this week's key distance.

The 2025 golf season hasn't been overly kind to Kim. He has fallen from No. 21 to No. 61 in the OWGR since the end of last year. His best finish of the season was a T-7 in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February. That was his only top-10 finish to date.

But a return to The Renaissance Club should bring a change in the tide. Kim leads all golfers in this field with an average of 2.23 strokes gained across his 12 career rounds at this venue. He finished third in his 2022 debut at the Scottish Open, with a T-6 two years ago and a T-15 last year.

Despite his struggles this season, he ranks 32nd on the PGA Tour in proximity from 150-175 yards. His approach shots and short game have been his biggest strengths of late, and those are necessary for any success in links golf.

Buy the dip with these inflated +700 odds for a top-10 finish. FanDuel has this prop priced at +550, so we can get an extra $15 in profit on a winning $10 bet at bet365.

🎯 Scottish Open long-shot pick

These are extremely generous +6500 odds for one of this year's two-time winners on the PGA Tour. bet365 has +4500 odds (2.17% implied win probability) for Fox to win, and I'd deem that the more accurate number. We can get an extra $200 in profit with this ticket at FanDuel.

Fox is second on the PGA Tour this season in proximity on approach shots from 150-175 yards. He's played at The Renaissance Club each of the past three years, with a top result of T-12 two years ago. He's gained strokes in all key metrics across his last 20 rounds, including 0.50 SG: approach and 0.78 SG: tee-to-green.

πŸ€– Scottish Open AI prediction: Tommy Fleetwood

I asked ChatGPT, a large language model chatbot from OpenAI, for its best pick to win the Scottish Open. Please note that ChatGPT is not an experienced bettor and should be used only to gather additional information and insights. This pick is for entertainment purposes only.

Best odds: +2200 via BetMGM (bet $10 to win $220) | Implied win probability: 4.35%

🎯 Why Fleetwood?

1. Links pedigree: Fleetwood thrives on links-style courses. He has multiple top-five finishes at both the Scottish Open and The Open Championship, including a runner-up at Royal Portrush in 2019. He’s extremely comfortable shaping shots in wind and handling firm-and-fast setups like The Renaissance Club.

2. Recent form: Fleetwood has quietly built strong momentum on both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour in 2025, including a T-2 finish in the Travelers Championship. His short game and iron play have been elite - both key ingredients in a links setting.

3. Course history at Renaissance Club: Fleetwood owns multiple top-10 finishes at this venue and narrowly lost in a playoff in 2020. He’s consistently gained strokes on approach and around the greens at this track - vital against a deep field where scoring comes down to fine margins.

4. Betting value at +2200: While Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy sit atop the board, their short prices (+400 and +750, respectively) offer little return in a volatile setting where weather and randomness can heavily influence outcomes. Fleetwood at +2200 strikes the ideal balance of win equity and value.

🏌️ Who's favored to win the Scottish Open?

Scheffler, still perched high atop the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), returns to The Renaissance Club following a T-3 finish two years ago. He didn't play last season's Scottish Open but has gained an average of 1.53 strokes on the field across his 10 career rounds at this venue in North Berwick.

The World No. 1 tied for sixth in the Travelers Championship his last time out, with that following a T-7 in the U.S. Open. He has remained the consensus betting favorite by next week's British Open odds, where he'll seek his second major win of 2025.

Despite Scheffler's respectable past success in the Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, as well as two top-10 finishes in the past four runnings of the British Open, I'm passing on his +400 odds with a winning $10 bet returning a profit of just $40. Links-style golf - as well as the Scottish weather - is highly volatile and opens the door for long shots to win this tournament.

I'm not interested in anyone with outright odds shorter than MacIntyre's +3000 this week.
