We started the day with a bang (literally), as Giancarlo Stanton launched a homer in his first at-bat, and we now turn out attention to our best home run predictions tonight. Unfortunately, for the early picks, Yandy Diaz left the game after being hit by a pitch in his first plate appearance.

We're still profitable, though, and our home run bets tonight of Jorge Polanco and the MLB MVP odds top contender in the AL, Cal Raleigh, will hopefully keep the good times rolling. Polanco came through for us last night; can he do it again?

Sure, Stanton is probably the slowest human in all of professional sports. And yes, that contract continues to age like milk. However, despite being mostly a liability in real life, Stanton provides both fantasy baseball managers and bettors with a ton of potential value. 

He's mashed seven home runs in just 119 plate appearances this season, and though most of his batted-ball data is terrible thanks to his absurd strikeout rate, there's no denying that he still crushes the ball when he makes contact. And that's all we need today: one singular shot to that short porch in right.

Of the players set to participate in today's limited slate, it's Stanton - not Raleigh, Matt Olson, Austin Riley, Corey Seager, or any other high-profile slugger - who owns the best home run projection. And though these home run odds are slightly shorter than I'd like, I'm willing to pay the price because of who's on the mound for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Ryan Pepiot is, overall, a good pitcher. However, he's a good pitcher with a home run issue. Look for Stanton to take full advantage of that matchup this afternoon.
