Crow-Armstrong belted his 20th home run of the season in the team’s 73rd game, after a year in which he had 10 home runs in 123 games. In the process, he became the youngest player in Cubs franchise history with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in a single season.

Up next he faces Mariners righty Emerson Hancock, whose 1.4 HR/9 rate this season is only slightly better than the troubling 1.8 HR/9 rate he finished with last season.

Hancock has allowed seven of his 10 home runs to left-handed batters (in only 23 more at-bats than righties have against him), and he has allowed at least one home run in five of his previous seven starts. And Crow-Armstrong’s OPS is 324 points higher against right-handed pitchers than southpaws, which has me confident he will connect on his 21st home run today.
