After the second game of the three-game series between the San Diego Padres (45-39) and Philadelphia Phillies (50-35) was rained out yesterday, the series concludes with a doubleheader from Citizens Bank Park today. We have Padres vs. Phillies predictions for both games.

Pivetta has struggled with current Phillies hitters, allowing a combined .275/.398/.579 slash line over 69 at-bats. His road ERA is also nearly two runs higher on the road than at home (4.50 road ERA compared to a 2.55 ERA at Petco Park).

His ERA has also gotten worse each month, culminating in a 4.71 ERA across five June starts. I expect Philadelphia to do its part in scoring in this matchup, even if the full-game Under has cashed in seven of its last eight games.

The ceiling is high for Sanchez’s strikeouts in this second leg of a doubleheader, as he is likely to be an innings-eater to rest the bullpen. Combining this wager with Philadelphia’s moneyline is a much better value since the Over on Sanchez’s 4.5 strikeouts is juiced to -152 (carrying a 60.32% implied probability), while the Phillies are 12-4 in his 16 starts this year.
