The MLB reliever of the year odds are tied to a relatively new award, at least compared to the other main big-league honors like the Cy Young odds.

It's been around since 2014, and several teams have been dominating, with a Milwaukee Brewers reliever remarkably winning five times on the NL side already, and the Cleveland Guardians' Emmanuel Clase taking two of the past three honors in the AL.

Some of our best sportsbooks we use to make our MLB picks are featuring Reliever of the Year odds for this year's top candidates. Let's dive in while offering our predictions.

🏆 MLB Reliever of the Year favorites

Andres Munoz (-110)

Only Josh Hader, who's taken the award three times on the NL side, is even remotely close to Munoz by the odds in the AL before a cliff drop to Duran.

It's quickly developing into a two-closer race, and Munoz is well-positioned up top due to his utter dominance. He's consistently blowing away batters with an 11.9 K/9, leading to a lowly 1.26 ERA. The owner of 18 saves primarily rides a petrifying fastball with a velocity that sits in the 97th percentile (98.6 mph).

Robert Suarez (+100)

It's a little more crowded at the top of the NL Reliever of the Year oddsboard, as three relievers are priced at +500 or shorter. However, Suarez has gained some separation while being a central figure for a World Series odds-contending team.

Suarez leads the majors with 21 saves, and much like Munoz, he's reached those heights through pure heat. He throws his fastball at an average of 98.2 mph, leading to 33 strikeouts across his first 31 innings this season.

Camilo Doval (+500)

There's an opportunity for a challenger to emerge in the NL, which is why you should be looking there for a dark horse in the Reliever of the Year odds race. The electric closer for a team currently occupying the second wild-card spot in the NL is a fine place to search for value.

Doval has been inducing plenty of weak contact for the San Francisco Giants en route to his 1.64 ERA, and his expected slugging allowed sits in the top 8% leaguewide.

🤖 MLB Reliever of the Year AI prediction

AL: Andres Munoz (-110)

Here's ChatGPT's reasoning for tabbing Munoz:

Dominant underlying metrics: Munoz has limited opposing hitters to a batting average under .150 with elite strikeout and whiff rates. His advanced metrics (xFIP, K-BB%) back up the results.

✅ Closer on a contending team: The Mariners remain firmly in the AL West and wild-card hunt, giving him plenty of high-leverage save opportunities to rack up totals.

✅ Consistency amid turnover: With Emmanuel Clase regressing and Mason Miller facing potential fatigue/injury questions down the stretch, Muñoz is the most stable elite option in the AL bullpen landscape.

NL: Robert Suarez (+100)

Here's what ChatGPT said about Suarez.

✅ Perfect Home Run Record: As of midseason, Suárez has not allowed a home run all year, which is a huge differentiator in tight reliever races.

✅ Elite run prevention: His ERA and WHIP are both among the league’s best, aided by excellent command and soft contact rates, despite not being as flashy as others in strikeout percentage.

✅ Padres’ Surging Profile: San Diego is firmly in wild-card contention, and Suarez’s high save total is keeping him in the spotlight for both voters and bettors (+100 at most of our best MLB betting sites).

📖 Reliever of the Year odds voting

The Reliever of the Year award is given to one relief pitcher in each league every year, leading to a winner in the American League and another in the National League.

While the Writers from the Baseball Writers' Association of America vote on most of the other MLB awards, the Reliever of the Year awards are unique in that a panel of retired relief pitchers do the voting, some of whom are Hall of Famers.

❓Reliever of the Year FAQs

Who is the favorite to be Reliever of the Year in 2025?

Seattle Mariners closer Andres Munoz is the favorite in the AL while getting -110 odds at bet365. It's more crowded at the top in the NL, but San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez leads the way (+100). There are three relievers at +500 odds or shorter in the NL, but just two below +1100 in the AL, with Josh Hader the other (+200).

Who was Reliever of the Year in 2024?

Emmanuel Clase of the Cleveland Guardians was named the reliever of the year in the AL after last season. It was Clase's second time taking the honor over a three-season stretch. Meanwhile, Ryan Helsley of the St. Louis Cardinals was tabbed in the NL.

How are Reliever of the Year odds determined?

A relief pitcher's effectiveness or ineffectiveness are the primary factors in who rises and falls up the oddsboard. A closer who blows several saves in a short period, for example, would surely see his odds lengthen. The response of the market and who's getting the most support from bettors at any time is another element.
