The New York Yankees (45-34) seek to avoid a three-game sweep as -200 road favorites during an interleague matchup against the Cincinnati Reds (42-38) tonight.

New York cannot be trusted as a heavy favorite at this point, as its offense was held to one or fewer runs six times in the last 13 games, while going 4-9 in that span. Thus, with the value from a moneyline perspective gone, we look towards our player prop wager on De La Cruz for the best return.

De La Cruz has 10 extra-base hits (including six home runs) and 12 RBI in his last 12 games. He entered yesterday’s contest with the second-best slugging percentage in the majors (.747) since May 24, and in the top three in OPS (min. 75 PA).

The Reds slugger has especially turned things on of late. Through the first 52 games this year, he was slashing .241/.314/.399 with eight home runs, a 91 wRC+, and was striking out in 28.8% of at-bats. Over the last 27 games entering Tuesday, his slash line improved to .333/.416/.747 with 10 home runs, a 206 wRC+, and a 19.5% strikeout rate.

De La Cruz is one of nine players ever with 50-plus home runs and 75 or more stolen bases through their first 337 games played. His RBI odds are inflated since he is facing Max Fried, who ranks third in the league in ERA. But Fried’s road ERA is nearly a half-run higher than it is at Yankee Stadium, and this remains a confident play on one of the hottest hitters in the sport.
