McLaren and domination, two words that go together like bangers and mash, epitomized FP1 and FP2 as we offer our Hungarian Grand Prix best bets and odds for tomorrow's race.

Trying to stop McLaren is about as improbable as seeing Franco Colapinto win a race this season. Our Hungarian Grand Prix best bets are indicative of our confidence in McLaren, featuring one half of the dynamic duo as our winner pick.

Lando Norris is the odds favorite across our best F1 betting sites to win Sunday's race at Hungaroring in Budapest (9 a.m. ET, ESPN), thanks to securing the fastest time in FP1 and FP2.

Can anyone other than the pair wearing Papaya Orange surprise the F1 world? With our best value and long-shot pick, we take a look.

🏁 Hungarian Grand Prix predictions, expert picks & best bets

Editor's note: Picks were made after FP1 and FP2.

Here are my Hungarian Grand Prix best bets for tomorrow's race at Hungaroring based on the latest odds from the best sports betting apps

🏆 Pick to win Hungarian Grand Prix: Oscar Piastri ⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +125 via BetMGM ($10 returns $12.50 profit)

If you have a coin, pick a side for Norris and Piastri and flip it. That's basically the margin between the F1 Championship odds front-runners entering Sunday's race.

I'm backing Piastri, though, as I did last week in Belgium.

While the baby-faced assassin was second best in FP1 and FP2, he has shown an astonishingly effective propensity to up the ante on race day. He's been the best driver on the grid this year, showcasing his ability to leverage optimally the MCL39.

I believe Norris will make it three fastest times in a row today in qualifying, putting him at the front of the grid for Sunday's race day. However, Piastri will be full of self-belief after winning in Belgium and securing his first Formula One victory at Hungaroring last year.

While Hungaroring is renowned for one of the most challenging tracks to pass other drivers, only 16 of 39 pole-sitters have won. While somewhat counterintuitive, it bodes well for Piastri if he finishes second in qualifying.

💎 Best value bet to win Hungarian Grand Prix: Charles Leclerc ⭐⭐⭐

Such is the odds' discrepancy at our best sports betting apps, Leclerc represents my best-value bet despite his +1600 odds being longer than Max Verstappen, our long-shot pick.

BetMGM has Leclerc's odds at +1000, the sportsbook offering the least value on the Monegasque.

Excluding Leclerc's forgettable outlier at Silverstone, in which he finished 14th, the Ferrari driver has finished outside of the top three just once in the past five races. That was a fifth-place finish at the Canadian Grand Prix.

He's most likely to become the fifth driver to win a race this season, and his third-fastest times in FP1 and FP2 provide reinforcement, if nothing else.

🎯 Best long shot to win Hungarian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +1400 via DraftKings ($10 returns $140 profit)

Verstappen, a long shot?

This isn't the first time the Dutchman has been in this position in 2025. His +1400 odds usually wouldn't constitute a long-shot play. However, Hamilton and Leclerc, are the only other drivers with longer odds who have a puncher's chance of winning this race.

Verstappen's also a long shot because of his recent form and lack of confidence in the team and car. Bemoaning the car like it's an ex-girlfriend that did him wrong, Verstappen doesn't appear in the headspace required to win an event against such imperious opponents.

He finished ninth in FP1 and 14th in FP2. And no, that's not a typo.

That said, we've been here before with the Dutchman, who can pull off improbable results like no other.

At least he finished fourth in Belgium last week, a result that was affected by the 80-minute rain delay. Let's see if he can get it right in qualifying to put him in a better position. Now is the time to act on this bet as his odds will almost assuredly shorten after today's qualifying.

Piastri has won three of the previous five fastest laps. Norris and Piastri have won nine of the 13 fastest laps, with the former edging the Australian with five. It will be challenging for anyone to pass the McLaren duo if they finish one-two in qualifying, which should increase the likelihood of another fastest lap.

There's almost nothing to choose between the odds at our best sportsbooks, with +150 the least value. The +155 odds represent a 39.22% implied win probability.

💡 How to bet on Hungarian Grand Prix

When betting on any Grand Prix, there are many things to consider, some more crucial than others:

  • McLaren drivers have dominated all season, winning eight of the last 10 races. They finished one-two in FP1 and FP2, another impressive early start that shows no signs of tailing off
  • For this specific race, it's best to lock in your picks before qualifying. Norris and Piastri have proven their almost unerring consistency, leaving little room for any other team to win
  • Only 11 of the last 23 races at the Hungaroring were won by the pole-sitter, leaving more room for someone not starting the grid in first to snatch victory
  • However, make sure your picks are realistic. George Russell has won one race, Verstappen has two wins, with Piastri (6) or Norris (4) winning the other 10.
