The defending champion New York Liberty aim to strengthen their WNBA championship odds as they visit the Washington Mystics tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET (ION) from CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C. Our Liberty vs. Mystics prediction expects a high-scoring showdown.

The Liberty are the defending champs and the favorites to repeat, but the Mystics have been one of the most significant overachievers in the W this season with a 4-2 record against the spread. So rather than backing New York to pull off a decisive road win as my best bet, I'm banking on these two teams to put on an offensive show.

Unsurprisingly, Sandy Brondello's undefeated Liberty boast the WNBA's best offense. The team ranks first in points per game (91.6), first in offensive rating (113.7), first in field-goal percentage (47.6%), and first in made 3-pointers per outing (11.4).

It doesn't get much better than that, and Washington's defense is going to be in trouble.

The addition of Natasha Cloud, who ranks third leaguewide in assists per game (7.6), is among the best moves of the offseason, with her passing instincts helping to take New York to another level. Even with Jonquel Jones expected to be out tonight, Cloud, Stewart, and Sabrina Ionescu should get after this Mystics defense.

However, Washington trots out enough firepower to help this Over cash, too. Brittney Sykes has been one of the most out-of-nowhere stars early in the season while putting up the third-most points per game (22). She's not alone, with rookies Sonia Citron (15 PPG) and Kiki Iriafen (14.2 PPG) hitting the ground running.

While I do expect New York to approach a double-digit win and cover, the combo of Washington's rookies alongside Sykes can do enough to make this one of the highest-scoring games of the night.

Stewie is showing no signs of slowing down after taking home her second MVP award two years ago and leading New York to its first title last season. The six-time All-Star is fourth in the W in points per game (20.8) and field-goal percentage (55.9%), and she put up 27 just last night against the Golden State Valkyries.

Stewart leads the Liberty in usage rate (26.6%), ranks sixth in the WNBA in offensive rating (129.1), and sits third in offensive win shares (1.0). The 30-year-old has recorded 24-plus points in three of five games this season, and she should be able to give Iriafen and Stefanie Dolson plenty of problems inside the arc.
