Despite inconsistent play as of late, the New York Liberty head into Tuesday's matchup at 7 p.m. ET (NBA TV) from Barclays Center against the Dallas Wings as the WNBA championship odds favorites. However, my Wings vs. Liberty prediction is backing Paige Bueckers to keep this matchup close with Breanna Stewart still out for New York.

While New York has been dealing with injuries the past few weeks after its dominant start to the season, this is still the second-best team in the W.

Even without Stewart and Kennedy Burke, the Liberty have the offensive talent to take advantage of a struggling Wings defense - Dallas is fourth-last in defensive rating (109.6). Sabrina Ionescu leads the team in offensive win shares (2.4) and is third in the league in points per game (20.4), and Jonquel Jones is a force inside.

Led by those two, I have New York winning 92-84 as part of my Wings vs. Liberty prediction.

Since its 9-0 start to the season, New York is 9-10 straight up and 5-12-2 against the spread. The Liberty have failed to cover in five straight games and haven't covered as a double-digit favorite since June 10 - New York is 0-4-1 as a double-digit favorite since then.

So even with the Wings being an obviously flawed team, they're catching New York at a tough time, especially with Stewart and Burke out.

Although Dallas remains one of the worst teams in the W, it's been far more competitive since mid-June. The Wings are 7-10 since winning their second game of the season on June 17, and they've managed to go 10-8 ATS since June 13. Thanks to the play of Bueckers, Dallas has only been a double-digit underdog twice during that stretch - even beating the Liberty by 10 points as an 8-point underdog last week.

With Bueckers helping this offense ranking seventh in points per game (82.1), fifth in pace (78.7), and second in made 2-pointers (23.1), the Wings should be able to score enough to keep this game close. New York ranks in the back half of the league in points allowed per game (81.1) and has given up 92-plus in three of its last five outings.

Bueckers is the runaway favorite to win WNBA Rookie of the Year, and the No. 1 pick has only been getting better as the season goes on. The former UConn star has scored 20-plus in three straight games, including a 20-point performance against the Liberty last week, when she shot 58.3% from the floor and 50% from behind the arc.

Bueckers is now seventh in the league in points per game (18.5), 13th in offensive win shares (2.3), and 17th in offensive rating (113.0). On the season, she's gone Over 18.5 points in 13 of 23 games (56.5%), making these even money odds from DraftKings hard to pass up.
