As All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons enters his fifth season in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys star could be playing on a new team this season.
While the Cowboys lead the Micah Parsons next team odds across the best sports betting sites, the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year has officially requested a trade.
With Parsons currently set to play on his fifth-year rookie option this upcoming season, the former 11th overall pick was seeking a contract extension. Reports that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones refused to work with Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, are a key reason the Penn State product could be suiting up elsewhere this season.
Who has the best shot at landing the NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds contender?

Seeing as the Cowboys have the 11th-most cap space in the NFL, and given the way key players in Dallas like CeeDee Lamb have voiced their displeasure with the way Jones has gone about the situation, it's no surprise that America's Team leads the Micah Parsons next team odds.
The -300 odds at the best NFL betting sites imply a 75% probability that the four-time Pro Bowler will be suiting up for Big D in Week 1. Could the Parsons trade request and notes app post be a leverage play to put pressure on Jones to make a deal? It certainly seems like it, especially with the way Cowboys fans are reacting to the situation.
This could be similar to the Myles Garrett saga from earlier in the offseason, where a cornerstone player wants a lucrative extension and uses the media and a trade request to put pressure on the franchise to get it done. However, trading a multi-time All-Pro pass rusher in his prime for a haul isn't unprecedented; in fact, we saw it less than a decade ago when the Oakland Raiders shipped Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears.
Could a Super Bowl odds contender be willing to part ways with multiple first-round picks to land Parsons and hand him a contract extension? The Bears gave up two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and a sixth-round pick for a 27-year-old Mack, a second-round pick, and a conditional fifth-round pick in 2018. Mack then signed a six-year extension with the Bears worth $141 million ($90 million guaranteed).
The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots are tied for the second-shortest odds (+1000) after the Cowboys, but their odds at the best sportsbooks imply just a 9.09% probability they'll acquire Parsons.
On top of the fact that a team would need to have the draft capital to trade for Parsons, the 26-year-old is likely seeking a contract in the neighborhood of a five-year, $200-plus million deal. That makes this even more tricky, and makes the idea of reuniting him with Dan Quinn on the Washington Commanders seem improbable.
🔮 Where will Micah Parsons play next season?
There are so many reasons the Cowboys remain major favorites by the Micah Parsons next team odds. But one of the clearest reasons is that we rarely see a team part ways with a superstar in their prime - especially when they play one of the three most important positions in football.
This offseason alone we've seen Garrett, Maxx Crosby, and T.J. Watt reportedly be unhappy with their contract situation just to eventually land massive extensions. And while Trey Hendrickson's situation remains up in the air, that's a unique situation because no owner is cheaper than Mike Brown.
Despite Jerry Jones getting himself in hot water over this Parsons situation, the Cowboys have adults in the room capable of making the right decision. Don't expect Will McClay and Stephen Jones to let Jerry move on from Parsons so easily.
Last season, Parsons was seventh in the league in pressures (70) despite playing in just 13 games, and he posted the second-highest pass-rush win rate. He's one of the 10 most impactful non-quarterbacks in the sport, and he's closer to No. 1 than he is No. 10.
This is not a player you trade and expect to get better from doing so. While a $10 bet on Parsons to remain with the Cowboys pays just a $3.33 profit, Dallas is the only reasonable team to bet on at this point.
