While I don't think Chelsea will win the Club World Cup, as discussed in the Club World Cup best bets, they have a prime opportunity to defeat an impressive Palmeiras side. 

Palmeiras, who are fourth in the Brasileiro Serie A and just two points adrift of first-place Flamengo after 11 matches, won three of four Club World Cup matches, keeping a clean sheet in each victory.  

However, they will be without club captain and central defender extraordinaire Gustavo Raul Gomez, suspended after being sent off against Botafogo.

The 32-year-old is as influential as they come, and while Palmeiras performed relatively well overall this season without him, they won only one of three league matches in which he didn't play. 

That victory came against the worst team in the division, Sport Club do Recife. I'm betting on a 2-1 Chelsea victory without the need for extra time or penalties.

I'll start by expressing how torn I am about the prospect of selecting Pedro Neto as the best goal-scorer pick. Neto has enjoyed a superb tournament, scoring three goals, one in every Club World Cup start. 

While he's an excellent pick, I'm playing the situation and expecting Delap to take advantage of a defense devoid of Gomez. Delap has one goal thus far and three shots on target.

He wasn't nearly as effective, at least in terms of a goal-scoring threat, against Benfica as in the previous match versus Esperance Tunis, but the bullish and skilled forward should be up for his most important match with the Blues since signing from Ipswich. 

I backed him when he scored his first for Chelsea, and I'm going back to the well in this marquee matchup. FanDuel offers the longest odds (+220), which is markedly better than BetMGM's +165 at the opposite end of the spectrum.
