The dinger parade continues around these parts, as does the early season heroics of rising San Diego Padres star Jackson Merrill.

He provided another winning bet for us yesterday (+400) as part of our best home run prop bets today. The outfielder belted a two-run shot during the Padres' 5-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians, his second blast in as many nights.

Hitting home run props is difficult at the best of times, and even more so while staring down a short getaway day slate featuring only five games. But we'll look to keep the fun times going while leaning on a mix of hot hitters and well-established stars sure to break out.

Bellinger is off to a fine start this season with a .294 batting average and .789 OPS. He tallied a three-hit outing during just his second game with the Yankees, one of which went over the fence.

It wasn't just a long ball either. It was, in fact, the longest long ball ever for Bellinger.

That comes after an impressive spring training, with Bellinger clubbing four homers. And the purveyor of the uppercut swing now gets to face a hurler in the Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly who utilizes a changup and sinker often. Kelly threw his changeup 20.9% of the time last year and his sinker 14.4%, and Bellinger slugged .480 against the former and .512 when thrown the latter.

A quickly ascending athletic marvel is facing a pitcher who's rapidly becoming a homer handout waiting to happen. This is the state of affairs for Elly De La Cruz and Nestor Cortes, who seem to be heading in opposite directions at warp speed.

Half of De La Cruz's eight hits so far over six games have gone for extra bases, including two jacks in the same game. That's why he sports an early OPS of 1.027. There will no doubt be a little bit of regression, but please recall that De La Cruz isn't at all normal, and his average exit velocity ranked in the 88th percentile last year.

Then there's Cortes, who's already surrendered five homers over a mere two innings, tying him for a league worst. That comes after his 24 dingers allowed last year, which was by far a career high.

This is again a time when you should hurry to BetMGM, as the odds for De La Cruz are far lower through Caesars (+400).

Air Yordan is off to a sluggish start with only three hits over his first 25 plate appearances. However, he showed signs of life yesterday by notching two of those hits.

Alvarez hunts heat, which is a necessity for any high-end slugger since the modern game features many hurlers whose fastball is jet-fuel powered. But that doesn't describe Joe Ryan, who's a top-tier pitcher despite his fastball velocity that sits only in the 47th percentile, according to Baseball Savant. And yet he still leans on the pitch heavily by throwing it 48.3% of the time last campaign.

That plays right into Alvarez's strength, as he slugged .592 with 20 homers last year against fastballs.

⚾ William Contreras (Brewers) to hit a home run ⭐⭐⭐

This is another case of pitch selection lining up nicely with what the hitter in question prefers to pummel.

Contreras has been establishing himself as one of MLB's most powerful hitters among catchers, ranking fourth at the position last year with 23 homers and ninth with a .466 slugging percentage. He's an impressive all-around hitter, but Contreras specifically thrives against sinkers. The Venezuelan recorded a .511 slugging percentage against that pitch in 2024 while facing it 528 times.

That sets him up well against the Reds' Nick Lodolo, who threw his sinker the most of his four pitches last year, tossing it 28.5% of the time.
