As of Saturday night, the Yankees are favored to beat the Mets in today's MLB matchup at 7 p.m. ET from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. I’m predicting the Yankees will beat the Mets as -170 moneyline favorites.

The Yankees and Mets have cashed the Under in each of the first two games of this series. Yesterday’s 3-2 Mets win was also the 12th time in a row the Under has cashed when they have been underdogs. However, I am bucking these trends and am expecting a higher-scoring game in a series finale that features two left-handed starting pitchers.

Both teams rank in the top eight in the majors in BABIP and in the top four in wRC+ against left-handed starting pitchers.

The Mets have familiarity with Max Fried from his days with the Atlanta Braves. And while he no-hit them through seven innings in his only start against them last year, it was also a Mets lineup without Juan Soto and a much worse version of Pete Alonso.

The Yankees have tagged David Peterson for a 6.23 ERA and 1.962 WHIP in 8 ⅔ career innings against them. Thus, it should not matter that the southpaw is backed by a bullpen that entered yesterday ranked in the top four in ERA, FIP, xFIP, and WAR, especially since three of their top arms were used in yesterday’s win.

I predict the Yankees will beat the Mets by a final score of Yankees 6, Mets 4.

Just as we are bucking the trends that point to the full game Under, we are also ignoring the fact that the NRFI has cashed in each of the Mets’ last eight games as underdogs in interleague games.
