After winning Saturday's qualifying, Oscar Piastri is looking pretty in advance of today's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola in Italy (9 a.m. ET, ESPN).

Piastri, the F1 Championship odds favorite, is the obvious front-runner entering today's proceedings at our best F1 betting sites. Our Emilia Romagna Grand Prix predictions and best bets, however, feature George Russell and Lando Norris, who finished third and fourth in qualifying.

🏁 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix predictions, expert picks & best bets

Editor's note: All below picks were made on Saturday morning after P1 and P2 but before P3 and qualifying

πŸ† Pick to win Emilia Romagna Grand Prix: Lando Norris (+165 via DraftKings) ββββ

Norris is desperate to win his second race of the season. His only victory came at the Australian Grand Prix in the season's opening race. While he has been inferior to Piastri since that race in Melbourne, he finished second at last season's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and looked excellent for the most part in P2.

Piastri edged Norris by 0.025 seconds in P2. The Australian driver is racing with a seemingly unflappable confidence. However, I give Norris a slight advantage on raceday due to the track's high degree of difficulty.

I expect Norris' experience advantage to play a part on a circuit renowned for its high-speed corners, blind apexes, and unforgiving run-off areas.

DraftKings offers the longest odds of our best sports betting sites, where a winning $10 bet will profit $16.50.

πŸ’Ž Best value bet to win Emilia Romagna Grand Prix: George Russell (+1600 via FanDuel) βββ

Russell's driving has been superb throughout most of the six races, with the British driver finishing among the top three four times and fifth in the other two races. His consistency keeps me coming back as the best-value bet.

Max Verstappen always offers a viable best-value bet option, which I triggered in my Emilia Romagna Grand Prix expert picks. Russell again finished ahead of Verstappen in P2, and I appreciated how he attacked the track while reigning it in when required.

At this point, I'm not sure Russell's Mercedes has the juice to finish first. He's been banging on the door all season but is consistently let down by the car's inability to outperform the MCL39.

Unfortunately, I feel Norris and Piastri must each make a notable mistake for Russell to win his first race of the season. That said, his +1600 odds offer the best value outside of the McLaren duo.

Over at FanDuel, a winning $10 wager would profit $160 if that scenario unfolds.

🎯 Best long shot to win Emilia Romagna Grand Prix: Charles Leclerc (+3300 via bet365) βββ

No driver below the top five in the 2025 Driver Standings is worth putting money on to win the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Leclerc is in fifth place with 53 points, 40 behind Russell. While I can't see him overturning that deficit in the remainder of the season based on his lack of consistency, Leclerc has been much better recently.

He did, however, regress in Miami, finishing seventh. It was the first time in four races he finished below fourth place.

On Friday, Leclerc finished with the sixth-best time in P2, just behind Verstappen. A lot has to happen for Leclerc to win Sunday's race, but he's in with a shot if he has a good qualifying session.

Before Miami, he finished fourth twice and third in the previous three qualifying sessions. If Leclerc can lock in third or fourth on Saturday, he'll be set up for a chance to defy the odds.

A winning $10 bet will profit $330.

πŸ’° Best Emilia Romagna Grand Prix prop bets & picks at Imola

πŸ”₯ Best prop bet for Emilia Romagna Grand Prix: Lando Norris fastest lap (+150 via DraftKings) ββββ

I backed Norris to win the fastest lap in Miami, and he accomplished the feat for the fourth time in six races. He's driving the best car on the circuit and is the most accustomed to having the quickest lap. The Brit won the DHL Fastest Lap Award last season and is on the same trajectory this season.

Even if Norris doesn't win the race, he should be podium-bound, resulting in at least a few lightning-quick laps.

πŸš€ Best prop bet for Emilia Romagna Grand Prix: George Russell 3rd place finish (+350 via bet365) ββββ

Russell already has three third-place finishes. He finished third in Australia, Miami, and China. It's his most likely finishing position based on his unerring consistency among the front crew. He's racing better than Verstappen and Leclerc but is inferior to Piastri and Norris.

A winning $10 bet at bet365 would profit $35.

πŸ’‘ How to bet on Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

When betting on any grand prix, there are many things to consider, some more crucial than others:

  • Follow what happens closely during practice sessions, specifically FP2. FP3 is another important practice session. However, FP2 offers an accurate preview of what to expect in Sunday's Grand Prix before qualifying. You can get excellent value by placing your bets before qualifying, using FP2 as a good case study.
  • While the practice sessions should be used to inform your picks, qualifying is the most important part of the pre-race festivities. You might get better odds picking a driver before qualifying, but it could also make winning much more challenging if qualifying doesn't go well.
  • Pole position is more crucial at some races. It's not as important at Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The last two polesitters (Verstappen) won the Grand Prix but the previous two didn't.
