This is far from the Wings team we saw limp to a 9-31 record last season behind a defense that was hands down the worst in the WNBA. That horrific season netted the team the No. 1 pick (Bueckers) to pair with All-Star Arike Ogunbowale. And the Wings even added DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith.

That said, the Lynx are among the best teams in the league for a reason, and that reason is Napheesa Collier. The MVP contender just carried Minnesota to the WNBA Finals after finishing fourth in the league in points per game (20.4), third in rebounds (9.7), and winning Defensive Player of the Year.

She's a superstar flanked by an experienced roster that had the team finish No. 2 in defensive rating (96.5).

Cheryl Reeve's team has something the Wings don't: the chemistry and continuity to hit the ground running in the season opener. All five of the stars that carried Minnesota to the finals last year are back, and all five of them are veterans who have been around the league six-plus years.

While Dallas almost certainly has to be better this season - its defense can't possibly finish last in points allowed per game (92.1) and rating (114) again - there's too much newness to this team, including head coach Chris Koclanes. It's going to take time for Dallas to mesh.

Collier and Co., should have no problem controlling this game and leaning on their defense to slow all of Dallas' new pieces.

Despite the Lynx being poised to pull off a big win in their season opener, look for Bueckers to show why she was worth the No. 1 pick in the draft. The former UConn star should get her fair share of open looks with Minnesota likely being locked in on slowing Ogunbowale, who put up 22.2 points per game last season.

While Bueckers isn't the type to pull from deep without a conscience, she was ridiculously efficient for the UConn Huskies from three in her career. Over four seasons playing for Geno Auriemma, she averaged 1.9 made threes on 4.5 attempts per game (42.3%).
