Women's Wooden Award Odds 2025: Watkins Closes as Slight Favorite Despite Injury

The women's Wooden Award odds market has officially closed with ballots being turned in on March 24. Voters took the regular season and NCAA Tournament - up to the Sweet 16 - into account before casting their votes for the award.
USC star JuJu Watkins was the overwhelming favorite to win the award before tearing her ACL five minutes into a Sweet 16 matchup with Mississippi State. This opened the door for Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo and UCLA's Lauren Betts, who are still in the race at our March Madness betting sites.
UConn's Paige Bueckers and Texas' Madison Booker were also announced as top-five finalists. The women's Wooden Award winner will be announced on Friday, April 11, at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+).

βοΈ JuJu Watkins Wooden Award odds (-150)

Watkins carried USC to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Trojans made it all the way to the Elite Eight, pushing UConn further than any other team in the postseason, all without their superstar.
Watkins played just 33 minutes of postseason basketball, suffering a season-ending injury early in the second round. She scored 25 points and grabbed nine boards in that short time, but will it be enough to carry her over the finish line for the women's Wooden Award?
The sophomore closed with -150 odds. While Watkins was still the favorite when the market was taken down, the significant gap between her and the competition closed rapidly after the Sweet 16. The USC superstar's closing odds imply a 60% probability she'll take home the award, despite a devastating injury.
Best odds: -150 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 60%
βοΈ Hannah Hidalgo Wooden Award odds (+220)

Hidalgo seemingly had one leg up on her opposition this season: she was a more consistent shooter. However, when she struggled down the stretch - shooting 31.8% in losses to Duke, Florida State, and NC State - so did Notre Dame.
It was at this moment that the Betts vs. Hidalgo vs. Watkins race saw a clear leader emerge from the pack. While unfortunate, the latter's injury in the second round opened the door again for her competitors.
Did Hidalgo do enough during her second lease on life to warrant a legitimate claim to win the women's Wooden Award? We don't believe so. The Fighting Irish crashed out of the NCAA Tournament in the Sweet 16 with their superstar shooting 3-for-19 (15.8%) from the field.
Hidalgo's closing odds (+220) might look promising, but it's hard to imagine that performance pushing the Notre Dame guard over the hump.
Best odds: +220 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 31.25%
π» Lauren Betts Wooden Award odds (+400)

While it doesn't impact her women's Wooden Award chances, it's worth noting that Betts is the only contender still standing. She's been phenomenal in the NCAA Tournament, leading UCLA to its first Final Four with an impressive win over LSU.
If any underdog can swoop in and snatch the award from Watkins late, it'll likely be Betts. The junior center averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds through the first three rounds of the tournament, leading the way for the No. 1 seed's impressive trio of victories.
Factor in a recent win over USC in the Big Ten Tournament title game, and it's hard to make a case for anybody other than Watkins or Betts. However, the latter's closing odds (+400) suggest she still hasn't done enough separate herself from other contenders in the eyes of voters.
Best odds: +400 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 20%
