The future Hall-of-Fame quarterback might not have far to move as the New York Giants have jumped to the top of the Aaron Rodgers next team odds pile.

While it's definitely not the most alluring of win-now propositions, the Giants are the minus-money favorites, pushing the Pittsburgh Steelers down a spot.

The 41-year-old out-of-work quarterback still hasn't confirmed his plans for the forthcoming season, but Jay Glazer of FOX Sports says his return is the most likely outcome. One thing is clear: He will not return as a member of Gang Green.

After opening as the NFL Comeback Player of the Year odds favorite last year, the Jets struggled with Rodgers under center, and head coach Robert Saleh was fired after five games.

The team finished 5-12 and hired Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as head coach, who had previously indicated the team might look elsewhere for a QB.

It might have surprised some to see all 32 NFL teams given odds to land Rodgers when the market opened, but it's unclear what capacity the veteran quarterback will want to return in next season.

It's assumed he'll want to remain a starter, and Rodgers will likely get that opportunity at a team unlikely to challenge as a Super Bowl odds contender at our best NFL betting sites. Since the market opened, the dust has mostly settled, with 19 teams' odds standing at +10000, representing just a 0.99% implied probability.

That scenario starkly contrasts the Myles Garrett next team odds, which show only seven teams with +10000 odds.  

Lucky for Rodgers - or unlucky, depending on how you look at it - the Giants would love to have Rodgers around to mentor whomever they draft. They are in dire need of a franchise quarterback after what transpired with Daniel Jones. Their -150 odds carry a 60% implied probability.

Sufficed to say, he'll have his work cut out wherever he goes unless the Steelers live up to their second-shortest odds. They have the best chance among the favorites of winning now. 

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is famously a long-time admirer of Rodgers. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback could be seen as the missing piece to get Pittsburgh over the hump, which recent QBs have been unable to do.

Could the new Las Vegas part-owner Tom Brady pick up the phone and talk to his old adversary about the opening on Pete Carroll's team? The Raiders (+400) are one of six clubs trading at 10/1 odds or shorter to land Rodgers.

🔮 Where will Aaron Rodgers play next season?

It's important to note that we have yet to hear Rodgers commit to playing football again during the 2025/26 season. While a decision is expected soon, there has been no official confirmation, even though top sources like Glazer believe he's not done.

The Minnesota Vikings (+750) have been floated around as a potential destination, mostly as a joke on social media. Fans have been kidding that Rodgers could complete the Brett Favre career arc with that move. But is the shift as unlikely as it seems?

NFL Coach of the Year odds winner Kevin O'Connell could be looking for a new star under center if free agency takes Sam Darnold elsewhere, and J.J. McCarthy isn't deemed ready to step up. Could Minnesota turn to an old division rival for help?

However, aside from the Giants, we believe the likeliest landing spot for Rodgers is Pittsburgh (+250).

While Tomlin's record of never dipping below .500 with the Steelers is still remarkably intact, it's hard to say the team has been successful lately. Pittsburgh has gone nine years without a postseason win, and it desperately needs something to change inside the team's facilities.

Whether Rodgers can be that change remains to be seen. However, signing one of the most successful quarterbacks in league history after he's cut from his previous team seems like a no-brainer. The Steelers are nothing if not aggressive when trying to improve their roster.

It's a safe pick, but it seems like the right one based on what we know now.

Rodgers was set to receive a $2.5-million base salary and a $35-million signing bonus for 2025 under his contract with the Jets. That was after he signed a three-year, $112.5-million deal with the Jets in 2023. But he's now officially out in the Meadowlands.

There's no telling how much a quarterback who turns 42 next season will command on the open market. However, the salaries given to Rodgers and Derek Carr (four years and $150 million with the New Orleans Saints) sat in the middle of starting quarterbacks last season.
