Two points separate the Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs as they square off at 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+) tonight from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto in a game that could bear significant weight on which team wins the Atlantic Division.

Our Maple Leafs vs. Panthers prediction and player props expect Toronto to inflict more pain on the visitors tonight. Florida enters after successive setbacks to the Montreal Canadians and losers of six of their previous 10. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs have won six of their last eight games, including three straight at home.

Here are the latest Panthers vs. Maple Leafs odds and betting lines from our best live betting sites.

🎯 Panthers vs. Maple Leafs score prediction: Maple Leafs 4, Panthers 2

The Maple Leafs lost both previous meetings this season against the Panthers, and they usually don't match up well with the defending Stanley Cup champions. However, Wednesday's game feels different.

The Panthers were dragged through the wringer in Montreal on Tuesday, losing 3-2 in overtime after coughing up a lead with nine seconds remaining in the third period. If that's not enough, Florida - which is receiving the second-shortest Stanley Cup odds - hasn't been playing well since Aaron Ekblad was removed from the lineup.

The Panthers' top defenseman, an assertion Gustav Forsling might argue, started serving his 20-game suspension against the Boston Bruins on March 11.

The Panthers had won six straight beforehand, but they're 4-5-1 since his absence. Three of those wins came against non-playoff teams, and the other occurred in Toronto against the Maple Leafs.

Ekblad's absence has created a massive hole in the Cats' defense, even with recent acquisition Seth Jones doing his utmost to suitably replace the suspended blue-liner.

The Maple Leafs haven't played since Sunday in Anaheim, so they should be fresh. As long as they're high on energy to start, a demoralized and fatigued Panthers team trying to make it by without Ekblad and Matthew Tkachuk is unlikely to beat the Leafs.

🏒 Best Sam Bennett prop pick: Over 0.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -120 via FanDuel ($10 to win $8.33)

Bennett isn't exactly lighting up the scoreboard while posting just two points in his last four games. However, he tends to save his best stuff for the Maple Leafs. Maybe it's because Bennett is from Ontario. Regardless of the reason, he rises to the occasion against the Buds and has scored six points against them in the previous three meetings.

The 28-year-old posted at least a point in the last four head-to-head encounters against Toronto.

🏒 Best John Tavares prop pick: Anytime goal ⭐⭐⭐

Unlike Bennett, Tavares is scorching hot while enjoying a sensational season. Tavares is second on the team in goals with 35. He's scored eight goals in the last six games, lighting the lamp at least once in five straight contests before failing to score in Anaheim on Sunday.

The former Maple Leafs captain scored two goals in the previous three meetings against the Cats, and his physicality and intensity give him an excellent chance of netting his 36th.

📊 Best John Tavares prop bet odds

🏒 Best Matthew Knies prop pick: Over 1.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -132 via FanDuel ($10 to win $7.58)

FanDuel is offering an outlier -132 for this prop, a significantly better price than the rest of our best NHL betting sites.

Knies fired at least two shots on goal in seven of the last eight games, averaging 2.6 per contest. Knies is a reliable pick at this low total, with four Overs in his previous six home games. Also, he produced an extremely productive outing last time the Cats came to town, registering five shots during the March 13 setback.
