Panthers vs. Red Wings Prediction Tonight: Best NHL Player Props & Odds for April 6

Last updated: April 6, 2025 1:22 PM EDT β’ 6 min read X Social Google News Link

Itβs been a rough ride lately for the Florida Panthers, who enter tonightβs matchup tied with the Flyers for the NHLβs sixth-worst record (4-7-1) since March 11 - a skid that has me siding with the home team in my Panthers vs. Red Wings prediction and player props.
That March 11 date also marked the first game without defenseman Aaron Ekblad, who remains out until the playoffs while serving a 20-game suspension. Florida has dropped four straight, including back-to-back losses to the Montreal Canadiens, and wraps up its four-game road swing tonight against the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena (5:30 p.m. ET, TNT).

π Panthers vs. Red Wings pick & odds: Who will win tonight's NHL matchup?
As of 10 a.m. ET, the Panthers are the -120 moneyline favorites to beat the Red Wings (+100) in tonight's NHL matchup at 5:30 p.m. ET from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. I predict the Red Wings will win.

π― Panthers vs. Red Wings score prediction: Red Wings 4, Panthers 2
For the downtrodden Panthers, it's a good thing the playoffs don't start today. They've lost four straight games for the second time this season, and I expect them to lose five on the bounce for the first time. Florida will be without Ekblad, Matthew Tkachuk, and captain Aleksander Barkov for the game in Motown.
While overcoming the loss of one, possibly two, of that triumvirate is feasible, I find it difficult to believe - especially based on their current form - they'll beat a well-rested and desperate Red Wings team that should have some confidence restored after beating an in-form Carolina Hurricanes squad 5-3.
Adding insult to injury is their demanding schedule, which has seen the Panthers play five games in eight days. The first of those games was in Florida, so they've also travelled an extensive distance. The most recent encounter occurred on Saturday when they were shut out by the Senators in Ottawa.
Head coach Paul Maurice will most likely rest Sergei Bobrovsky for the second game of the back-to-back after playing him in Ottawa, with VΓtek Vanecek - who lost his previous three starts - set to replace him. Detroit will likely miss the playoffs again, but it should have enough juice to take advantage of an exhausted, shorthanded Panthers team.

With Barkov and Tkachuk out, the offensive onus is squarely placed on Reinhart's shoulders. He has been consistent recently, with at least three shots in seven of the last nine games. While he might be fatigued, Reinhart will have to dig deep for the Panthers to pose an offensive threat in this one.
He's also on a four-game run of registering at least three shots against the Red Wings. It's only a three-star play due to the short odds, which are at -140 at most of our best sports betting sites.

π Best Dylan Larkin prop pick: Anytime goal βββ
Best odds: +195 via DraftKings ($10 to win $19.50)

Larkin has cooled off as much as someone who takes a dip in Lake Michigan mid-winter. He has tallied one goal in the last 11 goals, which is one of the main reasons Detroit will probably miss the playoffs for the ninth straight season. However, Larkin was dangerous throughout against Carolina and posted two assists.
He's overdue to light the lamp, and I'm willing to back him at +195 thanks to his recent success versus tonight's opponents, against whom he has four goals in the last four games.

π Best Patrick Kane prop pick: Over 0.5 points ββββ
Best odds: -132 via FanDuel ($10 to win $7.58)

The Red Wings would be in an even worse position had Kane not stepped up offensively. He's been scoring at a point-per-game rate, posting at least one in 10 of the previous 16 games. He has 23 points in the last 21 games and probably salivates at the mere thought of getting another opportunity to tame the Cats.
Kane tallied at least one point in three of the last four meetings with the Panthers and should be primed for another one-point-or-more evening.
